HOW THE FRANCHISE WORKS

The Franchise Owner's role is to establish the business at an approved location and to offer the Granite Transformations brand offering within the territory. It is the Franchisor's responsibility to provide all the necessary training, technical and marketing support to enable each of its Franchise Owners to run a successful, profitable business.

The Franchise Owner's individual business is likely to operate one or more retail showroom facilities, preferably with good parking provisions, and Granite Transformations will assist with fitting out the showroom area and provide thorough induction training and comprehensive operating manuals. Equipment, stock and materials will be sourced from Granite Transformations and its nominated suppliers.

It is anticipated that the Franchise Owner employs two or more staff, as a receptionist / administrator to deal with customer enquiries and an installer to fit work surfaces to the agreed specification. These employees will allow the Franchise Owner to focus on generating local sales and running the overall business.

Sales leads are generated through a variety of brand marketing activities. The Franchisor is responsible for promoting the brand nationally, using the National Marketing Levy and other funds. The Franchise Owner will focus on promoting the business locally, within the allocated sales territory.

To accommodate Franchise Owners with different market experiences and investment budgets, Granite Transformations has developed various franchise packages to allow suitable business people to come on board and help grow the brand. These involve different setting-up costs, but all give access to the complete Granite Transformations' product offering of worktops, finishing materials and replacement kitchen doors.

Franchise Package Fees

The franchise package fee allows the Franchise Owner to start trading as an authorised Granite Transformations retailer and covers the franchise licence, sales and marketing material, franchisee and staff training, and an initial 'building block' of designated households, as an exclusive sales territory. There is a sliding scale according to the selected package:

Fees are subject to VAT at the current rate, although this element can be reclaimed if the business is VAT registered.

The different fee levels reflect variations in the initial training and support packages provided. The Showroom & Workshop option includes a licence to manufacture and retail, intensive technical training and on-site tuition for workshop staff, and a larger 'building block' of households, in addition to the regular induction programme. The High Street Showroom and Concession Showroom fee levels are the same, since an identical programme of training and support is provided by the Franchisor, although the concession model does involve savings on showroom fit-out, legal fees, leasing costs and service charges. The Existing Retailer fee takes into account existing sales, product and marketing knowledge with a slightly reduced fee, although there is some flexibility depending on existing facilities and whether a manufacturing franchise is added.
